Lily Rose Atu recently finished studying Jazz at the New Zealand School of Music—Te Kōkī and is excited to share her original works.
This collection of music is an observation of our constant motion, occupying different spaces throughout time, moving, transforming and streaming, as a river would. Having been developed over the past few years, inspired by her love for jazz and neo-soul, this is the last album fundraising gig before the band goes into recording in late October of this year.
Rivering will be brought to life by the magical and marvelous: Jono Ben Zur on bass, Paulina Hernandez on piano, Ranu Wijesuriya on drums, Elisa Bird on baritone, Frank Paton on trumpet, Victoria Ferry on vocals, and Lily Rose Atu on saxophone and vocals.
Wāhine in Jazz: Freedom Within
Wāhine in Jazz presents a set of jazz music mixing the joy and interaction of free improvisation around, within and informed by standards well known in the Jazz idiom, performed by an all women and queer group of musicians.
Minho Choi Quintet at Thistle Hall
Minho Choi is a drummer, guitarist and composer based in Tāmaki Makaurau, known for his exciting, melodic compositions and fierce drumming. Having recently released his debut original jazz fusion album, ‘Birds and Fruit’, Minho is joined by other Tāmaki Makaurau talents to showcase his compositions and other works from artists such as Matt Carmichael.
His all-star quintet features Caitlin Diprose on bass, Cedric Charles on piano, Rory Mulcahy on tenor saxophone, Noah Pin on trumpet, and Minho on drums!
